Riding the bus after dark? Here are some tips to help you be seen, and be safe.
When it's dark out, it's harder for bus operators to see you waiting at the stop. Here's how you can help prevent accidental pass-ups:
- If possible, wear something bright. Dark clothing is difficult to see.
- As a bus approaches, stand up and alert the operator by waving your cell phone, flashlight or strobe light. This helps the operators notice you.
Between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., you can ask your bus operator to let you off anywhere along the route—not just at designated stops.
Just let your operator know a block or two in advance. They'll pull over at a safe place to let you off.
This service is available anywhere outside of Fareless Square. Keep in mind, it's for drop-offs only. You'll still need to board the bus at your regular stop.
